Back. Bandai includes those detail up parts again in the 08th MS series of MGs; I think they are useful here to detail up the very plain shin armor.

Left profile. A minor detail up is the mesh grills on the sides of its chest, which otherwise were too plain.

Running mechs are cool. I didn't think Ez8 could do it
but look ma, no hands!

Details. I have variable successes with "rain marks" created with sandpaper. The chest was done well, but the shoulders less.

Ez8, Ez8... the Gundam that's not Gundam, the I-hated-it-but-now-it's-OK Gundam. I thought it was just ugly and bizzare design when I first saw it, but having watched 08MS Team a few times it really wasn't too bad. It was designed to be somewhat hacked up, so the clunkiness is kind of explained. And I may have a softspot for these underwhelming suits :) The proportion is very good, unlike the RX79G, which has an insanely big head that I can't stand.

Ez8 is assembled from Shiro's trashed RX79G with enhanced cooling and armor. Being the Extra-Zero-Eight, it saw combat from episode 8 onwards. It does some crazy stunts like using its backpack to grapple on a chimmey to rain ammo on Norris, but overall it wasn't an overpowering suit like many Gundam protangonists'.

Taking pictures of Gundam takes quite a bit of time, since I need to pose the mech with its lens reflecting light, not to mention the weapons constantly falling off the mech's hand. But more pictures will be coming soon.

[Update 4/02] Well I decided to forget about the other weapons and go with just the machine gun, so that people won't hate me for that perpetual "Coming Soon".

Kit Review

This is a great kit with almost no visible seams. The design is the same as RX79G's with armor modeled in cylinders so they can just slide into the internal frame of the limbs. My main complaint is the hands can't hold the guns too well, and due to the design of the machine gun and beam rifle, they tip over easily. The Shiro figure comes with the kit.

Building

Me + soldering iron = very damaged mech + very burnt fingers :)

Dremel is great for doing normal damaged such as bumps and bullet holes, but beam damages which melts armor are better done with soldering iron, so I got one with the lowest possible wattage. This time Ez8 is weathered much heavier than NT-1, since Ez8 sees many battles in many jungle/forest terrain. This time I try to use sandpaper exclusively to create the effects on panel surfaces, with varying successes. Well more on weathering later.

And the nude insigna - hey, even Shiro is a guy, and last I heard Karen approved :)
